London Stock Exchange today welcomed the Bourse Régionale des Valeurs Mobilières
The Bourse Régionale des Valeurs Mobilières – BRVM - is a fully integrated electronic regional stock exchange for eight countries – Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Niger, Senegal, Togo - of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU). The BRVM started its operations on September 16, 1998.
BRVM is an electronic trading platform which moves to continuous trading since September 16, 2013.
The Equity market capitalization reaches XOF 6 478,76 billions (about 12 billions USD) at the end of March 2015 when the bonds market comes up to XOF 1 301,49 billions (about 2,5 billions USD). The BRVM is currently the 6th Stock Exchange in terms of equity market capitalization after Johannesburg, Lagos, Cairo, Casablanca and Nairobi.
The BRVM has 39 listed companies on the two equity boards and has in project a third one for SMEs.
The BRVM main activities are:
- Organizing the stock market
- Publishing the market information
- Promoting the financial market
The BRVM is a member of the African Securities Exchanges Association (ASEA) and the West African Capital Markets Integration Council (WACMIC).
