London Stock Exchange today welcomed Himalayan Fund N.V. on the 25th Anniversary of its Main Market listing

Himalayan Fund N.V. is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Fund’s listing at the London Stock Exchange.

Himalayan Fund NV. is an investment company with variable capital incorporated under Dutch Law, with its registered office in Amstelveen (The Netherlands). The primary objective of Himalayan Fund N.V. is to generate long-term capital gains for shareholders from investing in equities in India.

At the time of its launch in 1990, Himalayan Fund was the largest single-country investment fund in the world and it remains one of the oldest investing in India today. While access to Indian equity markets by foreigners is restricted, Himalayan Fund is one of the few vehicles by which such access can be gained. Thanks to its registration with the Securities and Exchange Board of India as a Foreign Institutional Investor Himalayan Fund is able to hold all of its own investments directly and to offer shareholders the benefits of the tax treaty between the Netherlands and India.

The Company provides liquidity for its shareholders by listing on the London Stock Exchange. The fund is managed by the board of directors directly. In 2014 Himalayan Fund NV generated a return for its shareholders of more than 40 percent.
