An overview of Shanghai Futures Exchange

Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE), established in 1993, specialises in metals, energy and chemical commodity products. 18 futures and 12 options are listed in SHFE. According to the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE)'s derivative reports, SHFE ranks first and second by number of commodity options and futures traded in 2019 and 2020 globally. Steel Rebar and Nickel futures were recorded as top 10 commodity contracts being traded.

Shanghai Futures Exchange established Shanghai International Energy Exchange (INE) in 2013 as its subsidiary and open to global investors. 5 futures and 1 option are listed in INE. Crude oil future is the first product launched in INE and is the world’s first RMB dominated crude oil future.
