Launched in 2006 in partnership with Bursa Malaysia, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia Index Series is a broad range of indices covering all eligible companies listed on the Bursa Malaysia Main and ACE Markets. The indices are designed to measure the performance of the major capital segments of the Malaysian market, dividing it into large cap, mid cap, small cap, fledgling and Shariah-compliant market segments. The indices enable market participants to measure, invest and create products in these distinct segments of the Malaysian market.
In addition, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia Index Series includes a range of sustainable investment indices that are representative of the Malaysian market, for investors seeking to integrate ESG and climate considerations into their investment process. Using FTSE Russell’s established FTSE4Good index methodology, the FTSE4Good Bursa Malaysia Index is designed to identify Malaysian companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices.
The FTSE Bursa Malaysia ESG Low Carbon indices are designed to help investors align their investments with reduction in operational carbon emissions intensity and improvement in the aggregate ESG rating relative to the underlying benchmark. These sustainable investment indices also exclude companies involved with controversial product activities and companies involved with controversial conduct.
